Driving an hour north of Puerto Vallarta you find San Pancho. Defined as the cultural heart of Nayarit, San Pancho is an authentic Mexican pueblo where tradition meets new forms of artistic expression, all encased in daily, magical sunsets. It is here that you can dine with fresh seafood sourced locally, or lounge on golden beaches away from the crowds. The residents of San Pancho are eco-conscious, down to earth, and appreciative of the natural beauty that surrounds them.  

Talk to the locals and the name Sayulita will conjure words of vivacious nightlife matched by the laid-back atmosphere created by the town’s surfing community. Located only 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is a world-class surfing destination and a very fun place to be. Sayulita also serves as the perfect base to tour the surrounding areas such as Punta de Mita, San Pancho, and the Marieta Islands.  

Just south of Sayulita at the entrance to Punta de Mita is La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. La Cruz, as it is commonly known, stands in the middle scale between charming and vibrant. While retaining contact with the true Mexico, the well-equipped world-class marina has made this town a chic destination. In the marina you will find a yacht club, a business center, and elegant bars to mingle along with the local community of artists and residents. 

Offering a similar vibe to San Pancho but on a bigger scale and geographically closer to Puerto Vallarta you´ll find Bucerias, meaning the “place of divers”. Once a picturesque Mexican fishing village, this popular beach destination has become an open secret amongst Canadian travelers. Today, the town hosts a vibrant community of expats and locals. With unfettered mountain and bay views, this is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city while staying close to its convenient amenities.
