The History of Puerto Vallarta Craft Beer
Puerto Vallarta’s love affair with craft beer began back in 2013, when a small Brew pub called Los Muertos Brewing Company opened its doors in the old town area of the city. Inspired by the vibrant local art scene, the founder of Los Muertos Brewing Company decided to create a range of beers that were as unique and colorful as the city itself. The brewery quickly became a popular hangout for expats and tourists alike, and it wasn’t long before other breweries started popping up all over Puerto Vallarta.
Today, there are now 15 different breweries operating in Puerto Vallarta, with more planned to open in the future. The city has even been crowned the “Craft Beer Capital of Mexico”, thanks to its thriving brewing industry. So, whether you’re a seasoned beer connoisseur or you’re just curious to find out more about this rapidly growing sector, make sure you head to the 5th Puerto Vallarta Craft Beer Festival!
Some of the Local Players
Monzon is a friendly and cozy English-inspired brewpub in central Zona Romantica. I came here multiple times during my six week stay, not only because it’s conveniently located but also for their great selection of beers (like the Pint Full Of Cake chocolate raspberry pastry stout). There are flights available as well with options such tasty cocktails or tacos that will make your mouth water! You can play trivia every Wednesday night if you want some competition while enjoying delicious food too–they have board games ready to go at all hours so no matter what day/time slot suits best this place has something on offer.
Los Muertos, a local favorite for craft beer and tasty treats in the Zona Romantica. Mentioning their happy hour deals with 1/2 price drafts from 4-6PM makes this place even more appealing! If you’re looking to grab some food before hitting up Monzon or just need something quick after work then head over straightaway because they have great options like pizza (35 MXN), pepperoni HK$28) Hawaiian slice.
El Terrible Brewing is Puerto Vallarta’s first locally owned and operated Brewery. They have a variety of beers available in bottles, cans or on tap at local retailers like Cerveza El Terrón. At Cosas convenience store, bottles cost 42 MXN ($2). A great place to pick up some delicious craft brews that will be sure to leave you wanting more!
What’s On Offer at the Festival?
As well as being able to sample beers from all of Puerto Vallarta’s leading breweries, visitors to the festival will also be able to enjoy live music and delicious food. There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn more about beer brewing and taste testing from experts in the field. And if that’s not enough, there will also be a range of fun activities for all ages, making this a great event for families too. So, what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now!
