A little history about the Volleyball sport

Volleyball is a sport that has been around for over a century. Its popularity has only grown in recent years, and it is now considered one of the most popular sports in the world. But where did volleyball come from? How did it evolve into the game we know today? In this blog post, we will explore the history of volleyball and discuss its early beginnings all the way up to the modern game.

Volleyball can trace its origins back to a number of different sports and games. In particular, it is thought to have been influenced by the game of tennis. In tennis, players use a racket to hit a ball over a net. Volleyball is similar in that players use their hands to hit a ball over a net. However, there are several key differences between the two games. First, volleyball is played on a much smaller court. Second, the ball in volleyball is much softer than a tennis ball. And finally, volleyball players are not allowed to bounce the ball off of the ground, whereas tennis players can.

These simple rules make volleyball a very different game from tennis. However, the basic idea is the same: hit the ball over the net and into your opponent’s court. Volleyball was first invented by William G. Morgan in 1895. At that time, it was known as “Mintonette”. The name was later changed to “volleyball” because of the way players would volley the ball back and forth over the net.

Volleyball quickly became a popular game, particularly in the United States. In 1916, the first official volleyball tournament was held in Brooklyn, New York. The sport continued to grow in popularity and by the 1920s, there were already professional volleyball leagues in existence.

In 1930, the first ever Volleyball World Championships were held in Warsaw, Poland. Since then, the sport has continued to grow and evolve. In 1964, volleyball was introduced as an Olympic sport. And today, it is one of the most popular sports in the world, with millions of people playing it recreationally and professionally.
